Party time!

Once we were home & settled from our trip to the beach, we had Caleb's 1st Birthday Party at our house. We were so excited to share the milestone with so many family and friends that were not with us on his actual birthday.

We really didn't pick a "theme" for the party, but since Caleb loves balloons so much (we can't walk through the grocery store without him trying to claw out of the cart to get to one) we decided to decorate our basement with lots of blue & red balloons. I decided to have a big cake made to match that & Caleb got his own personal cake to dig into & smash up (and he actually ate most of it)!

We all ate lunch & all the kiddies ran around outside and played. Before we knew it it was present time. Caleb got so much fun stuff... we thought we had a lot of toys before, but now they are really everywhere! He got some really cute outfits as well. Thanks to everyone who thought of him whether you were at the party or not!!!

On the developmental side, Caleb had his 12 month check-up the Monday after we got back from the beach. He's actually only gained 1 lb. since his 9 month check up! (All that moving around has really had him burning some calories!). The Doctor was very pleased with everything else. He got 2 vaccinations (one being the Chicken pox vaccine, which I still think is so weird), they pricked his toe to check for anemia, and they did a TB test as well. Everything passed with flying colors. The best part of the whole check up... we got the "official" okay to take him off of formula and start him on whole milk... wahooooooo!!! No more $25 formula cans! The weaning of the bottle is still a work-in-progress. He just can't let go of that morning bottle, which surprised me most, but we're slowly going to work on that over the next month. It's always something! ;)
