Spring Time Fun!

I'm in a nice, quiet hotel room and I'm on a roll catching up the blog, so what's 1 more post!?!?!... This past weekend we welcomed some much-needed & wonderful warm & sunny weather! Summer is definitely close!

Saturday was a fun-filled family day...John, Caleb and I headed to Suwanee Mountain in Cumming for the 1st annual "Hike for Hyde." It's a charity set up to help my friend's 2 year old nephew who has a very rare disease called atypical HUS (only 300 - 600 known cases...ever!) What a great event! They've raised almost $20,000!!! They had all sorts of fun stuff for the kiddos... a fire engine, jumpy, bouncy slide, face painting, coloring, and all sorts of other fun nature & animal related activities. Caleb had a blast! He fell in love with a big bunny that lives just outside of the nature center, he attempted to hula-hoop, colored a hiking boot for Hyde, colored his 1st leaf tracing, hunted for bugs, played in the tree house, and FINALLY hiked about 1.5 miles UP the mountain to the top (commonly called the "Indian Seats") that looks down on Cumming... so beautiful! (In high school we made that walk in the middle of the night, so it was sort of fun to be back & remember all those fun times). We were on a mission walking the 1.5 miles back down, so John & I traded carrying Caleb as he was overdue for lunch & we were quickly approaching naptime... it had the writing of a major meltdown written all over it!!! We quickly had some hotdogs and cookies as they raffled off some great gifts. As soon as Caleb hit the carseat he was out like a light!

Caleb napped so long we almost missed his friend's Emily's 3rd birthday party later that afternoon, but we actually made it just in time for him to play on the playground & have some cake and ice cream with his buddies. I don't know who was more worn after that day, us or Caleb!

Sunday was another great day...kicked off with breakfast in Dawsonville with Nana and Papa (any day that Caleb spends with Papa is his best day ever). We then went by our friend Micah's house that he is building on a bunch of acreage... Caleb got to pretend drive a Bobcat and Bulldozer & he was pretty pumped!

We finished up the afternoon with the 1st boat ride of the year! Caleb loves to drive anything, so of course he drove the boat the whole time we were out. He did really well on the boat & actually didn't mind his life jacket one bit, which I was very happy about! This kid loves his shades...the water...and the outdoors... should be one fun summer!!!

Corrie: Thanks for catching up your blog! Love the pictures of Caleb and you guys! Everybody looks great! I enjoy keeping up with you guys and how big and cute Caleb is getting to be! I'm glad the Hike for Hyde was so successful.
Say hey to your parents for me! Take care. Love, Cathy (Becky's Mom)
