A First for Everything...

Although the Proctor family has always participated in sports growing up, we've never really been the best on a team by any means. However this one particular day, we all medaled in a 5K race! Well, 4 of the family members at least. (Obviously Shelley's in Cal, John was in Maine and Valera wasn't available)

The 5K was the first Saturday in March & raised money for Special-needs kids in the Forsyth County school system in Jason Tremonti's name (one of John's high-school best friends who died in a car accident while we were in college). It was supposed to be 70 degrees & sunny, but turned out to be about 50 and kind of rainny!

I guess the weather helped us though... Scott placed 2nd in his age group (25 - 29), Dad and mom placed 2nd in their age groups (55 - 59) and I placed 3rd in mine (30 - 34). We all laughed in disbelief & had to get a photo just to document this rare occasion! ;) Even Caleb was there to cheer us on (although he could care less about the race & kept occupied on the fire engine and the snacks after the race!)

The race itself was hard... 3 mega hills that were killers! But all in all, we were so inspired & had such a good time that the whole family signed up for the Peachtree race in ATL this July 4th (a 10K). I can't wait!!!
